Foundry Apprentice CNC Patternmaker (Foundry Division)

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Foundry CNC Patternmaker Apprentice to join Thomas Dudley Foundry Limited. Offering a unique opportunity for talented individuals to program and operate CNC machines to produce Foundry tooling.

We are looking for an apprentice to work within our expanding team to help develop CNC machined patterns and core boxes which help support our vision of excellence and quality. Our programmers will produce tooling using both CNC and traditional methods from the CAD stage all the way through to finished tooling ready for sampling.

Thomas Dudley Foundry Limited is a member of the successful Thomas Dudley Companies. Still owned and managed by the Dudley family generating a turnover exceeding £40 million with 480 employees. Thomas Dudley Limited has been trading since 1920 and comprises of two divisions, cast iron foundry and plastic injection moulding.

Your bit ……….

  • Support CNC team on all tooling projects.
  • Create CNC programs using Powermill software.
  • Operate, maintain and Set-up our 3 CNC machines.
  • Help plan CNC work schedule to ensure maximum utilisation.
  • Undertake bench work and maintenance of patterns using traditional methods.
  • Use Solidworks 3D modelling software to prepare layouts for programming.
  • Provide creativity and innovative ideas to improve processes and methods.
  • Maintain supporting documentation to ensure accurate integration with other departments within the company.
  • Support all departmental requirements throughout the foundry business.
  • Report on a daily basis to departmental manager and directors at board level as required.
