Tool Maker Apprentice (Plastics Division)

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Tool Maker Apprentice to join Thomas Dudley Plastics Limited.

Thomas Dudley Plastics Limited is a member of the successful Thomas Dudley Companies. Still owned and managed by the Dudley family generating a turnover exceeding £40 million with 480 employees. Thomas Dudley Limited has been trading since 1920 and comprises of two divisions, plastic injection moulding and cast-iron foundry.

      • Experience in various TD Plastics Departments and how they function
      • Understanding simple mould tools and how they operate
      • Understand Injection Moulding machines and how they operate
      • Support Tool Makers
      • Repair of Jigs and Fixtures to specifications
      • Complete basic tool insert changes
    • Year 3
      • Work alongside Tool Makers in repairing Injection mould tools
      • Understanding more complicated mould tools and how they operate
      • Develop understanding of Tool Drawings
      • Manufacture and repair of Jigs and fixtures to specifications
      • Support site Continuous Improvement activities
      • Develop IT skills on CAD Cam and 3-D Modelling
    • Year 4
      • Identify faults and recommend repairs required to Injection mould tools
      • Design, Manufacture and repair of Jigs and fixtures for Assembly and Quality
      • Develop understanding of Injection moulding Processes
      • Develop understanding of Tool Design
      • Support Product Development and Product Improvement Initiatives
