DISA 3 Finishing Shop Team Leader

Thomas Dudley Foundry Ltd has an outstanding reputation for product innovation and excellent customer service delivery. To support continued business growth, we are now looking to enhance the team by recruiting a DISA 3 Finishing Shop Team leader at our Duport Tipton site.

Reporting into the Finishing Shop Manager, the successful candidate will supervise all aspects of work for the team, provide guidance for the day to day running of the department and maintain safe working practices.  The ideal candidate will have a background in production ideally within a heavy industrial setting and have experience supervising/ leading a team.

Your bit…

  • Plan / organise the work schedule to be carried out in line with work instructions and production plan
  • Brief team on correct ways of working and encourage participation during daily briefings
  • Lead, supervise and drive the teams’ performance to achieve and surpass KPI targets
  • To ensure the team correctly book their own completed work and scrap figures onto the system
  • Maintain supporting documentation to ensure accurate integration with other departments within the company
  • Manage the in process quality control inspection for ‘first off’ work and final inspections
  • To load / unload containers and wagons of castings
  • Report on a daily basis to departmental manager as required / act on behalf of the supervisor when they are not available
  • To assist with training and development of new starters / apprentice’s including checking and sign off their work.  
  • Conduct 1-1’s / PDR’s for the team
  • Responsible for the team skill’s matrix and identify / action training where needed
  • Ensure trainees are personally supervised on the shop floor
  • Carry out any accident investigations within the department
  • To ensure that all Health & Safety policies and procedures within the Technical area are complied with and fully maintained

What you need to do it...

  • Previous experience within a heavy industrial environment using a range of machines and production methods - within a Foundry setting would be advantageous
  • Previous supervisory experience in a similar role is essential
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety principles
  • Drive and ambition
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Confidence and enthusiasm
  • The ability to work individually or within a team environment
  • FLT licence / willingness to train
