Knock Out Operator - Foundry Division

We currently have a vacancy within our Foundry division for a Knock Out Operator working on a fixed shift pattern basis. The successful candidate will demonstrate drive and enthusiasm, ensuring the highest standards of quality whilst achieving deadlines required.

A flexible approach is needed towards working hours at short notice to meet business needs, overtime may be requested to cover busy periods.

The role will follow the below following Shift Pattern;

  • Monday to Thursday – 0715 to 1600
  • Friday – 0715 to 1500
  • 39 Hours per week


Your bit… 

  • Start and stop the shake-out plant to match work flow in relation to breakdowns or emergencies
  • Remove moulding boxes from the shake out table and place on the box return track if required
  • Separate the runner system from castings and place in the returns stillage
  • Visually inspect castings for faults and place scrap casting in the returns stillage and good castings in the casting stillage
  • Report repetitive/recurring casting faults to the supervisor
  • Use the correct manual handling techniques, tools and equipment for removing box parts, castings and runners from the shake out table
  • Report any malfunctions of the plant or equipment to the supervisor
  • Maintain the work area in clean, tidy and safe condition at all times

 
What You Need To Do It… 

  • Previous experience within a heavy industrial environment using a range of machines and production methods - within a Foundry setting would be advantageous
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety principles
  • Strong work ethic
  • Have good timekeeping
  • Good attendance
  • An enthusiastic "can do" approach to your work
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to work individually or within a team
  • Remain calm and work well under pressure
  • FLT licence / willingness to train
