Mechanical Engineer Supervisor

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer Supervisor to lead, motivate, and develop the onsite maintenance team at our Duport Tipton site. This is a key management role within the business overseeing the day to day running of the maintenance function. Holding full accountability, you will be working in an environment of constant change driving continuous improvement. The role holderwill need to be flexible as the role may change with the needs of the company, out of hours working will be expected according to business needs this is incorporated as a requirement of the role.

Your bit…

  • Organisation and day-to-day supervision of work completion for all Foundry site maintenance, plan and coordinating the daily workload for maintenance personnel
  • Ensure that production plants are maintained to the highest level at the most economical cost
  • Create and implement preventative maintenance programs, recommending changes to working practices ensuring that non-productive time is minimised
  • Supervise contractor control and site project work where required
  • Ensure that the skills and competencies of the Maintenance team are constantly developed
  • Develop & monitor department KPI’s and issue action plans to achieve objectives
  • Promote a positive Health & Safety culture, ensuring the department complies with all legislative requirements
  • Responsible for the expenditure of the maintenance department as specified by the Operations Director and in line with company policy
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate stocks of spares for all plant and equipment, authorising purchase of spares, ancillary equipment and consumables for use by the department
  • Maintenance of all statutory and company records relating to the foundry, services, plant and ancillary equipment
  • Responsible for air emission monitoring and ensuring annual regulatory maintenance is completed, documented and retained

What you need to do it…

  • Previous experience within a heavy industrial environment – within a Foundry setting would be advantageous
  • Previous supervisory experience in a similar role is essential
  • Experience with shot blasting equipment would be advantageous. 
  • Experience of implementing Lean/ Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety principles
  • Drive and ambition
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Confidence and enthusiasm
  • The ability to work individually or within a team environment
  • Flexibility in terms of out of hours availability when necessary to accommodate business needs
