NPI Engineer

Thomas Dudley Foundry Ltd has an outstanding reputation for product innovation and excellent customer service delivery. To support continued business growth, we are now looking to enhance the team by recruiting an NPI Engineer.

Reporting into the NPI Manager, this role has been created in response to the continued success of the Company.  Providing engineering experience, the successful candidate will work across multi-business areas to support the development of new products from initial design concept through to routine production.  Also creating advanced manufacturing solutions to improve current product range performance. 

Your bit…

  • Coordinate foundry NPI up to the point of release to customer by quality department
  • To deliver customer NPI due dates on time in full to the agreed customer due date
  • To ensure robust process controls and initial BOM are in place for all aspects of manufacturing at NPI stage
  • To minimise foundry scrap and waste efforts in all foundry departments at NPI stage
  • To capture manufacturing data for margin analysis at NPI stage to review quote vs actual cost control
  • Communicate progress on NPI to team using strong visual management
  • Ensure the complete set of tooling is made available for sampling
  • To ensure NPI has integrated work instructions for every stage of manufacturing with internal approvals from the Group Operations Manager and Quality Manager
  • Ensure that all departmental TDL quality procedures are implemented and maintained

What you need to do it…

  • Foundry experience would be advantageous
  • Conversant with NPI techniques, requirements and processes
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Customer focused, retaining sight of commercial objectives and prioritise accordingly
  • First rate communication and presentation skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills, results driven with the ability to work to deadlines
  • Confident, highly organised with excellent problem solving capability
  • A tenacious, driven and enthusiastic approach with excellent interpersonal skills
  • High degree of accountability with a positive attitude
  • Demonstrate empathy and understanding for colleagues, adopting a pragmatic approach with the ability to see another person’s perspective
  • An understanding of the department’s impact and how it fits into the wider business
