We are currently seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join our award winning Foundry team, based at Duport Tipton. Reporting into the Foundry Tooling Development Manager the role will be to design and fit running systems, create jigs and fixtures from castings or drawings, bench and finish newly cut patterns and re-furbish or repair existing patterns.


Your bit… 

  • Machine parts to drawing and specifications using lathes, millers and presses
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Analyse existing running systems and alter if required
  • Create drilling jigs from castings or drawings
  • Bench new CNC cut patterns
  • Maintain existing tooling to high quality standard
  • Liaise with other departments such as product development and mechanical design
  • Housekeeping duties, ensuring the work area is clean, tidy and in a safe condition at all times

 

What You Need To Do It… 

  • Previous experience of working in a foundry environment would be an advantage
  • Understanding of sand foundry processes desirable but not essential
  • Working knowledge of patterns or mould tool making experience would be beneficial
  • Previous experience of machining precision parts
  • Experience of working with bench tools, millers and lathes is essential
  • Experienced with all metals, resin and wood machining
  • Good communication skills, highly motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Be flexible, demonstrate a willingness to further knowledge and skillset.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a safe and efficient manner
  • Well organised with the ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety principles
