Utility Business Development Manager

Thomas Dudley Ltd has an outstanding reputation for product innovation and excellent customer service delivery. At an exciting time in the company’s history we are looking to recruit a Utility Business Development Manager for the Foundry division within the group to lead, plan and develop the performance of profitable growth for the Utility sector.  

This is a superb opportunity for a highly motivated technical sales professional who can demonstrate the ability to adapt to business needs.  Reporting to the Foundry Director the successful role holder will be competent in building long term commercial relationships and be from a similar industry sales background.

The role will be based in the Midlands, however you will be expected to travel across the UK and overnight stay will be required to perform the role. In addition occasional international travel may be required to support suppliers and customers.

Your bit…

  • Secure new business by building relationships with existing customers, maintaining a high profile with key customers and endeavouring to recover any 'lost' business.
  • Promote the development of new products and markets in order to fully utilise the Company's manufacturing capacity and to ensure continued growth.
  • Decide in liaison with the Directors the products to be manufactured within the Company and make recommendations for new products and services
  • In liaison with the Board and Management to plan and where appropriate lead cross functional project teams to increase sales and reduce costs
  • Negotiate prices and terms within Company parameters, managing %GM and pricing for all accounts
  • Prepare and negotiate tenders for major contracts.
  • Ensure information is conveyed to the manufacturing operation and despatch facility to satisfy the needs of the customers.
  • Participate in regular sales meetings and ensure that content and agendas support the foundry sales.
  • Establish focus groups to evaluate the Company products and services.
  • Support and attend trade exhibitions to promote Thomas Dudley products and brands.
  • Produce monthly management report, including recommended actions where appropriate for presentation to the Board.
  • Ensure that safe working practices are employed, to comply with Health and Safety at Work Regulations and Environmental Regulations.

What you need to do it…

  • Understanding of the Utility market having successfully sold with a similar industry sector previously
  • Proven track record of securing new business is essential
  • First rate communication and presentation skills with the ability to build strong long-term client relationships
  • Experience of tender processes at a senior level
  • Ability to thrive on change and be able to push the business into new opportunities
  • Flexibility in approach, adaptable in difficult circumstances and continuously strive to achieve results
  • Confident, highly organised with excellent problem solving capability
  • A tenacious, driven and enthusiastic approach with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to work outside of ‘core’ office hours as the business requires
  • A valid UK driving licence
