Warehouse and Transport Manager

Thomas Dudley Ltd has an outstanding reputation for product innovation and excellent customer service delivery. At an exciting time in the company’s history we are looking to recruit an experienced Warehouse and Transport Manager for the Plastics division to drive continuous improvement.

This is a superb opportunity for a highly motivated professional with a proven track record who can demonstrate the ability to adapt to business needs.  Reporting to Production Unit Director the successful role holder will be responsible for managing all warehouse operations ensuring that the despatch functions are delivered to the highest standard in line with our customer’s expectation

The role is predominantly site based however occasional travel may be required to support suppliers and customers.

Your bit…

  • Manage the day to day despatch functions making sure all customer requirements are satisfied liaising with sales team ensuring optimisation of transport for UK and Export despatch
  • Manage the day to day goods inwards receipt functions for all finished products ensuring all suppliers meet the company supply requirements liaising with purchasing and planning teams to ensure optimisation of transport for UK and Export receipts.
  • Manage all internal stock movements ensuring they are in accordance with processes maintaining accuracy of stock volumes and locations
  • Continual evaluation that customer agreement KPI’s are being met / improved upon
  • Provide customer feedback to ensure customer service levels are being met and surpassed
  • Assist to ensure customer complaints are actioned upon, resolved efficiently and speedily
  • Generate and maintain KPI metrics; Labour costs by volume and value, Transport costs by volume and value, stock accuracy through perpetual inventory process and outbound OTIF
  • Provide business data is recorded, analysed and reported to senior management relevant to the customer agreement both internal and external
  • Ensure that inter-department communication and idea sharing / best practice is supported
  • Ensure safe working environment in all warehouse and logistics areas
  • Manage company drivers and internal transport fleet ensuring compliance with legislation
  • Review / manage your direct reports performance, conduct and attendance in accordance with company policies
  • Identify teams training needs and manage development
  • Be part of continuous improvement teams
  • Ensure team members are maintaining a good standard of housekeeping
  • Other duties as may be necessary to fulfil the responsibilities of this position

What you need to do it…

  • Previous experience in a Warehouse & Transport management role is essential
  • Flexible, adaptable in difficult circumstances and thrives on change
  • Continuously strive to achieve results
  • Confident, highly organised with excellent problem solving capability
  • Excellent attention to detail and an eye for accuracy
  • Tenacious, driven and enthusiastic approach with excellent communication skills
  • Previous Experience of ERP/ WMS system would be advantageous
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft office – Word/Excel/Outlook
