Auto Syphons

WRAS approved Automatic Syphon

Overview

Automatic Syphons are WRAS approved and have been available for over 30 years. Known for their quality and reliability they are a favourite of many OEM’s for use in their cisterns.

Originally the syphons were manufactured from mainly copper and brass, but with major advancements in the availability of the raw materials and injection moulding techniques, the manufacture of the Automatic Syphon has moved to plastics.

All Automatic Syphons are supplied complete with two rubber washers and back nut. Each automatic syphon is fully tested before leaving the factory.

Frequently asked questions

Essentially it uses multiple syphons combined. The key point here is that with a regular syphon, a cistern that is filling continuously but slowly will simply trickle water out of the bottom of its syphon, the flow will never be great enough to fill the entire exit pipe to create the vacuum and initiate the symphonic action. We mitigate this this by decreasing the size of the exit pipe with an auto syphon which is normally 1.1/4” , but this in turn restricts the flow to the point that it would be ineffective for flushing a toilet, hence the need for another solution when flushing urinals. The auto-syphon is able to stagger water discharge such that once one of the smaller syphons activates fully, the water flow is great enough to initiate the syphonic action for the entire system, and we get a proper flush for a urinal flushing system.
